タイトル：「英語定型表現の検索と学習」

概要：
英語を学習する上で、イディオム (idioms)・コロケーション(collocations)・二項表現 (binomials)・句動詞(phrasal verbs) などの定型表現が重要な役割を果たすことが近年の研究により示唆されている。本講演では、定型表現が英語習得において果たす役割、定型表現の分類、定型表現の学習法などについて論じる。英語定型表現の検索に有益な web 上のツールも紹介する。

タイトル：Using the Event Conflation Finder to Explore the Effects of Register and Time Period on Conflation Patterns

概要：
This presentation explains the Event Conflation Finder (ECF) tool to help researchers search corpora for macro event encoding. I explain the necessity of the tool when looking for these specific patterns and similar ones, such as phrasal verbs. Furthermore, I present the results of two studies conducted using the tool to illustrate how the ECF can be used with big data to reach more generalizable conclusions about some of the long-suspected influences on event conflation tendencies, i.e., time-period and register. Future possibilities and research directions are also discussed.
